I don't think that I can answer the question of "who is your biggest musical influence?" with just one artist. I've pulled influences from many different bands/artists from different parts of my life.
Angie Keilhauer
I remember when she showed up at my school when I was in Junior year. She used to go to my high school before she moved to the U.S. The little I talked to her it changed my views on what an artists can be. I never expected someone from my country to be an music artists, and actually make a living out of it. It's a very unexpected thing, yet she did it. That they I went home and I listened to her songs on Spotify and checked her Youtube channel, and the more I digged into her music the more I digged her style. There was just something about her that I liked, and it changed my perspective of music. She's a big influence to my cultural roots.
Twenty One Pilots
Doesn't matter how mainstream they've gotten they've stayed true to what they want their music to sound like. They were also one of the first artists that didn't want to fit into one genre, which was so refreshing. Seeing them live two years ago changed the way I saw live performances; I was always scared to perform in front of people, but after that concert I realized that it's a must when it comes to music to show your art. Thanks to them I stopped playing music for only myself in my room, and started sharing it with people. They remind me that just because you are writing for others to listen to it, it doesn't mean that you have to lose yourself in that.
My Chemical Romance
This band is and will probably will always be one of my favourites. The combination of each of their band members created a great band that has influenced me the most. Gerard Way's lyrics and vocals will always bring me chills. The great guitar work of both Frank Iero and Ray Toro. The passion of the bass player Mikey Way. All together is what made this band amazing. They influenced me to write no matter how dark my thoughts came out to be, and encouraged millions to use art as a weapon to those dark thoughts.
Green Day
I can still remember my cousins blasting their songs through my grandparent's stereo. The moment I heard '21 Guns' I felt something inside of me that I couldn't explain. Their sound and lyrics was nothing I had heard before. I was only used to 'Disney Channel' artists up to that point, and Green Day has a very different sound than that. It was the start to my love for pop punk, and rock music.
