My "Top Albums"

Disclaimer: This list is in no particular order, because I love all of these albums just as much....which is a lot. There are also a lot of other albums but that would be another blog post

Black Parade--My Chemical Romance (2006)

The emo anthem, the one and only, The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance. Of course this album would be part of my Top Albums. I've been in love with My Chem since I was in 9th grade, and when I first heard this album I couldn't stop listening to it for weeks, maybe a full month.

I don't think there is a single song I skip when I listen to this album in full. My Chemical Romance was always great at telling stories in their album and The Black Parade is an excellent example of it. Gerard Way's lyrics tell a vivid story about life, love, and death, through dark undertones and lyrics. Ray Toro's solo's and skill guitar playing throughout the whole album, mixed with Frank Iero's guitar playing, give this album an iconic sound that was THEIR style. It was just completely them and there is no other way I could explain it. This album has resonated with so many people, and if you don't believe that, play the G note in a piano and look at how many people look up and around (the G note is the emo mating call). This album has inspired my own music and shaped me into the artist I am and I want to be.

Paradise--Broadside (2017)

Broadsides second studio album released summer 2017, this whole album helped me through so much that summer and it still bring my mood up whenever I'm feeling down.

The lyrics and the songs have so much meaning to me it's incredible. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with this album when it first came out and I still jam to it constantly. It has some really great songs like Who Cares?, Paradise, I Love You I Love You It's Disgusting, Laps Around a Picture Frame, Summer Stained. Those are some of my all time favourite songs and their lyrics mean so much to me. In this album you see the band go many different directions and they explore their sound in many different ways. In I Love You I Love You It's Disgusting they go for a more soft and ukulele-lay-back love song, while Who Cares? is more of a pop-punk-y and just overall faster paced song. They have many fast paced and slow paced songs and some songs that are just neither fast paced or slow paced. There is a little bit of everything in this album and that's why it's one of my top albums

Vessel--Twenty One Pilots (2013)

Twenty One Pilots, definitely in my top 3 bands of all times. They've inspired most of my music style as well as my writing style. This is the album that started it all. I love all of the albums Twenty One Pilots has released, but Vessel just stuck with me from the first time I heard it. It's been one of the albums I've played on repeat the most, and I don't get tired of it.

The start of the album with Ode To Sleep set the whole mood for the album. There is a transparency in the lyrics that is so reassuring and good to hear. This album has helped me through so many rough patches in my life and I will always be thankful for that. Songs like Truce and Trees build me up emotionally and just make me feel warm inside. Tyler Joseph has a way with words that is very rare, and it fits perfectly with the sound the band has. This album has the message of "you're not alone" which isn't that something we all need to hear every once in a while?

Infinity On High--Fall Out Boy (2007)

The bands 2007 release will by far be one of my favourite albums by them and one of my favourite albums ever. The pop punk, alternative rock sound was very heavy through out this album which is something that I feel Fall Out Boy did very well. It felt like a big step from their sophomore album "From Under The Cork Tree" (another album that I absolutely love). One of the big steps that I felt was that you can clearly see the band growing in this album and finding their sound and not being afraid to play with it.

The album feature 14 songs and 2 bonus tracks in the deluxe edition. There is no single song that I can point out and say "I don't like it" or a song that I hear for 30 seconds and then skip. It has some great songs and I feel like sometimes its an overlooked album. Pete Wentz shows us great lyrics, Patrick Stump doesn't hold back in his vocals and you can see him slowly coming outside his shell, Joe Troham delivers some great riffs and guitar playing that is staple old Fall Out Boy, and Andy Hurley never disappointing on the drums. Like I said before this album really shows the growth of the band and the heart and passion they have in music.
