The Origin of LunaThief

The vision of how we see ourselves is often distorted and blurry, but sometimes it's as clear as water. While writing I always imagined myself as someone else, the person in my lyrics feels sometimes separate from the person I let people see in real life. They are both me, but they tend to not be in the same room. Just like you will never see Superman and Clark Kent on the same room. I'm not saying I’m a hero, I'm far from it, but it's a good analogy as to why I came up with the 'LunaThief' persona.

While writing about this I was blocked in a way to explain it, so I figured I could start with "Who is LunaThief?" Well, the obvious answer is me. Just like Superman is Clark Kent (going back to that analogy). Why did I go for a character instead of using my own name then? Creatively I felt like I could do a lot more as if I'm writing my experiences into a character than writing them as simply MY EXPERIENCES. But the other answer is that it also helped me write and figure out what I want to say. I didn't only create an alternate character for myself but by creating it I have power over it; giving myself a little bit of control of how I want the story to go. Isn't that something we all wished to have in our lives?

I want to be able to express myself indefinitely and by just being me, Nat Zablah, I feel limited. Taking a new persona, a character, a pseudonym, bringing more of myself forward while wearing the mask of LunaThief. I like the superhero analogy I made earlier because, even though it might not be the perfect way to explain it, it's a close way for me to let you in the new world I'm building. The way I saw it was that I was creating a Sims character and building the world around it with music. Music that seems to not fit all too well still fits together. Songs that show parts of my life that I've kept inside of myself finally being shown to the rest of the world. Exploring everything and anything.

By creating a character and projecting myself through her I get a new perspective; I'm hiding in plain sight, but it's still all me. I am LunaThief, and this is how I see my world.
